We’re incredibly excited to be taking part in the Spring 2026 Shitbox Rally, driving from Adelaide to Darwin in our $1,500-or-less Shitbox, lovingly known as Barry the Brave. Barry isn’t just a car. He’s a bright pink, tiger-striped tribute to the people we carry with us and the reasons we keep showing up.
Our journey with Barry began with a simple intention to honour those we’ve loved, lost, and are still fighting for. Over time, his stripes have become a place for real stories – names of family, friends, and supporters who remind us why funding cancer research is so important. By the time we hit the starting line in 2026, Barry will be covered in the faces and hearts behind our mission.
Shitbox Rally is tough, unpredictable, emotional, and at times completely ridiculous… but that’s exactly what makes it powerful. It pushes teams to do something bigger than themselves and raise critical funds for cancer research. In 2025 we were proud to raise over $67,000 – one of the highest totals in the country – and in 2026, we’re aiming even higher.
Our goal is to make Barry the Brave the most impactful version of himself yet.
We’re rallying for the ones we love – for our Aunty Pauline, for Ruby, and for countless families who have walked the hardest roads. We’re rallying for the belief that every effort, every kilometre, and every donation can help change someone’s future.
This isn’t just a seven-day drive. It’s a tribute, a challenge, and a commitment to helping fund the research that saves lives.
With your support, Barry will roar even louder in 2026.

They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
Directly to Cancer Council.
Box Rallies is the largest funder of cancer research in Australia — outside of the government. Every dollar supports Cancer Council.
